Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Society in general:

Lawyers have to be mean to be successful.

  • How I responded:

I learned from supervisors and teammates who showed me that the noise wasn't true--the best lawyers are prepared, determined, and thoughtful. They know how to think strategically and work with others to persuade and accomplish goals.

Experiences and challenges that shaped me

  • Although my family was comfortable growing up, I had to finance my law school education on my own through a combination of loans and scholarships. It is important to think about what loan repayment will look like after school. and not overspend.
